The Garage Rocker

$150.00

Description:

The Garage Rocker is based on the classic PAF. I wind them a little hotter so you can really push your amp to that sweet spot. I add just the right amount of scatter-wind to my pattern to keep the pickup from getting muddy. I like to keep an articulate top end, with rich harmonic mid frequencies and a tight low end. The Garage Rocker has a little more compression than my lower output humbuckers.

I build the Garage Rocker with asymmetrical bobbins. I like to keep some of the single coil characteristics in a hot vintage humbucker.

I use Alnico 5 magnets in the Garage Rocker. Alnico 5 is great for keeping the bite in an overwound humbucker.

Lots of volume and power in this overwound PAF.

Set-Up:

I set The Garage Rocker height around 4/64th or 1/16th on the bass sides and between 3/64th to 4/64th on the treble side. On both the neck and bridge pickup I recommend starting there and then adjusting to your taste.

The Garage Rocker is available in standard and tremolo sized string spacing.

Tremolo string spacing would be for guitars with tremolo setups like Fenders with humbucker bridge pickups. Standard size is for the Gibson-style pickup setups.

I only use premium parts. Handmade in the USA. Sound samples at the bottom of the page.

Technical Specs:

  • 8.2k DC Resistance

  • 42 awg

  • Alnico 5 Magnets

  • Nickel, Chrome, Gold, Black, Cream, Zebra options available

  • Height adjustment screw and springs included
