Real Deal PAF
Description:
The Real Deal PAF is wound to vintage specs like the original Kalamazoo PAF legend. These are handmade using all the correct vintage parts. The Real Deal PAF is a creamy and articulate pickup with classic vintage chime and response. This is a workhorse pickup. It’s a great choice for players that want a hum-free pickup without the over compressed humbucker dynamics.
I wind the bobbins asymmetrical to get a very articulate humbucker with plenty of bite.
This is a very dynamic humbucker. You can hear the individual strings even with overdrive. You’ll find a great range of tone using the guitar’s volume knob. I like to turn my guitar’s volume to about 8.5, then turn up my amp and gain a touch more to compensate. I’ll roll up the guitar volume to 10 when I want maximum power.
Set-Up:
I set the Real Deal height around 4/64th or 1/16th on the bass sides and between 3/64th to 4/64th on the treble side. On both the neck and bridge pickup I recommend starting there, and then adjusting to your taste.
You can order the Real Deal with Alnico 2 or 5. The Real Deal comes standard with Alnico 5 magnets.
The Real Deal is available in standard and tremolo-sized string spacings.
Tremolo string spacing would be for guitars with tremolo setups, like Fenders with humbucker bridge pickups. Standard size is for the Gibson style pickup setups.
I only wax pot the Real Deal per request.
